Bio
Julie England was born in England, UK and started dance at the age of two. Over the years trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, National , Musical theatre, Stage, Contemporary, Modern, Ballroom and Latin dance, receiving all graded medals from pre-primary to advance in syllabuses ; I.D.T.A , I.S.T.D , R.A.D. with thanks to her mentor Mavis Burrows.
At the age of 14 Julie was accepted into the Pattisons Theatre Arts School and while studying all of the above disciplines she continued performing in pantomimes, musicals and fashions shows across England. Some of these shows include London hair and fashion week, Europe hair show, Hans Christian Anderson, Annie, Cinderella, The Snow Queen, Nutcracker, Babes in the Woods, Pyjama Game, Show Boat and the Opera Countess Maritza.
At the age of 16 Julie was accepted in to the prestigious London College of Dance and Drama. This is where her love for Modern dance grew; training in the styles of Graham, Duncan, Cunningham, Horton, Limon, and having the opportunity to perform with the Nexus Modern Dance Company. Julie graduated at the age of 18, with Dip. (LC.D.), B.A. dance, teaching qualification – A.I.S.T.D- Ballet, and – A.I.S.T.D- National.

To pursue her career further, Julie ventured to Alberta, Canada. She has instructed, choreographed, and coordinated operations for four major dance studios in the disciplines of Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern and Contemporary dance for six years. Her passion for teaching and choreographing led her to Calgary, where she currently resides, teaching Contemporary, Modern, Interpretive dance, Ballet, Jazz and Tap at Airborne Dance Centre. In addition to her accomplishments in dance, Julie earned a Bachelor of Applied Interior Design in 2004. This has afforded her the wonderful opportunity to learn more about the history of Canada through being the assistant designer for the Fairmont Hotels and resorts, as well as being part of shaping Calgary’s skyline and communities.
Julie has adjudicated numerous dance competitions, recognizing the talent, dedication, and achievement of artists. As an enthusiastic and passionate teacher, she has contributed to several dance workshops speaking to both dancers and audience members on all aspects of dance presentation, including the history of dance, areas of improvement, and techniques.
Best known for her innovative and compelling choreography, Julie has won an abundance of awards all over the world: George Lon Memorial Choreography Award, awards for American Dance Choreographic Achievement, Adjudicators Choice, and Outstanding Group. She and her students were awarded the winning cup for the Diamond Dance-Off for Can Dance, Power champions for western Canada, Overall ensemble for Terpsichore dance, as well as the Memorial Choreography Award for “outstanding artistic performance” in memory of Julian Paul Masi.
The most prestigious awarded Julie was honored to receive was the first place Cathy Wade Ensemble Award in Division II at the “Dance under the Stars Choreography Festival in Palm Desert, California”
In addition to her immense experience, Julie has had the opportunity to choreograph for the 55th Oilman’s show held in Banff, Alberta where she was recognized as a creative, focused and professional individual.
Currently Julie is working on various choreographic pieces that will be performed throughout 2012. She is looking forward to showcasing her work, knowing that someone, somewhere in the world can relate to it.
